Imagine Music Publishing is honored to announce that Dr. David Uber is joining our team of renowned composers.

After graduating from Carthage College and receiving a scholarship to the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, he served four years in the U.S. Navy Band. When his military service ended, he continued studies at Columbia University, where he obtained his Master of Arts and Doctor of Education degrees. In May 1999 Carthage College presented him with an Honorary Doctorate.

Dr. Uber was professor of music at the College of New Jersey (formerly known as Trenton State College) for 33 years, and in 1996 was awarded the title Professor Emeritus. He also served on the faculties of Westminster Choir College, Princeton University, and the National Music Camp at Interlochen, where he was Director of Ensemble Music.

As a performing artist, Dr. Uber was principal trombonist with the New York City Ballet Orchestra at Lincoln Center, the New York City Opera Orchestra and the NBC Symphony Orchestra. For many years he was solo trombonist with the NBC Television Opera, the Columbia Recording Symphony, the New York Brass Quintet and the Contemporary Brass Quintet. His artistry may be heard on countless recordings under such eminent conductors as Igor Stravinsky, Leopold Stokowski, Sir Thomas Beecham, Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Morton Gould, Arthur Fiedler, Fritz Reiner, and Bruno Walter.

A prolific composer with over 400 publications to his credit, Dr. Uber is an award-winning member of ASCAP and has written commissioned works for such soloists as Harvey Phillips, Don Butterfield, Frank Meredith, John Swallow, Wayne Andre, Gerard Schwarz and Lucas Spiros.
